INTRODUCTION

Ms. Lakna Waidyathilaka is a dedicated science educator with a Master’s degree in Applied Organic Chemistry from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Biological Sciences from SLIIT, where she graduated with First Class Honours. Recognized as the top graduate in her class, she was awarded the Best Performance Award and the prestigious Gold Medal, underscoring her academic excellence and commitment to her field.

Ms. Waidyathilaka brings valuable experience from multiple educational environments. She currently serves as an instructor at SLIIT, where she lectures in Organic Chemistry and guides students through practical lab-based modules. In addition to her university teaching, she has also taught Science and Chemistry at the secondary school level and continues to support A/L students as a private tutor. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes interactive, student-centered learning, with a focus on integrating digital tools and blended learning techniques.

Her academic work is backed by recognized research achievements, including a Best Presenter Award at the SICASH Conference 2023 and a published study on multimedia-based learning. Ms. Waidyathilaka is passionate about creating inclusive learning spaces and equipping students with both subject knowledge and 21st-century skills.
